I'm the author of The Merry Baker of Riga, who followed that work up with a few thrillers before returning to the non-fiction narrative genre…but have started penning edgier ones, beginning with an account of West Africa’s Ebola outbreak (I battled that crisis on the ground in two countries, followed by responding to SARS-CoV-2 in Southeast Asia).  I'm now curating the war in Ukraine from neighboring Moldova.
